Nick and Hilary Holt, licensees of the Cherington Arms, Cherington, nr Shipston-on-Stour, Warwickshire have won the Hook Norton Best Kept Cellar competition four times in five years.
The quality of the beer in the cellar is matched by the quality of food served in the traditional bar and dining area and the pub is listed in Les Routier and Good Pub Guide.
Its seasonal food menu uses ingredients from local suppliers with venison being a particular favourite and it has won an award for its ploughmans served with Oxford Blue cheese.
At weekends the pub has a growing reputation for its takeaways. Several customers who have weekend cottages nearby pop in for a pint at lunchtime and leave with one of the pub's chicken and leek pies to eat at home.
"We are a community pub, and part of village life, and one day I will fulfil my ambition to get a village cricket team up and running," said Mr Holt.

Bar & lounge
Exposed beams, stripped wood furniture and a feature roaring log inglenook fireplace creates a lovely homely atmosphere, a variety of real ales and mouthwatering bar meals, make up the locals bar. Comfy seats, striking prints hang on exposed Cotswold walls, an open log fire, a small bar and contrasting carpets give the lounge a cosy feel.
Pub restaurant
The restaurant is perfection itself! Light traditional wood furniture grace a striking hardwood floor, silver and china combined with lovely surroundings create an ambience of pure class.
The ever changing menu is home cooked using fresh, local produce where possible, this fact alone makes the printing of a menu impossible, our selection is displayed on chalk boards in the bar, lounge and restaurant.
