The Reindeer Inn

Situated in the busy market town of Banbury, this excellent pub is one of the very best drinking houses in the town.
The Reindeer Inn, Banbury with its heavy, wooden doors leading through to the yard at the rear bearing the inscription Anno Din 1570 was used by Oliver Cromwell, while laying siege to the now destroyed Banbury Castle.

Main window Globe roomIt is said Oliver Cromwell planned the Battle of Edgehill in the pub's fine wood-panelled Globe Room, which was also used as a courtroom to try many Royalists.
This warm welcoming pub has high beamed ceilings, a wooden floor and an open fire in the winter. Home-cooked food is served at lunchtimes.

For more information on the fascinating story of the Globe Room read our English Civil History.
