About The Rose and Crown Chipping Warden
The Rose and Crown, a traditional 17th century coaching inn. The pub is popular with villagers and visitors. The well sheltered walled garden is complete with a patio area. Picturesque thatched cottages framed by wisteria and a weeping willow in the village centre give Chipping Warden an air of serenity but it’s past was not quite so peaceful.
The village airfield is the best preserved of a string of bomber training bases across the south Midlands used during the Second World War.
The airfield is now used for commercial storage and so has been protected from decay.
