About the Star Inn

The three hundred year old 'Star Inn' sits in an idyllic village on the borders of South Northamptonshire and Oxfordshire, ideally located for visiting the many attractions available in the heart of England orsimply escaping for a peaceful and relaxing weekend in the country.

Believed to be the only known pub to be visited by the legendary actor John Wayne whilst on tour of nearby Sulgrave Manor the ancestral home of the first president of the United States George Washington. On a visit to Sulgrave in 1889 the honourable William Taft, Chief Justice of America said, "Sulgrave is a charming little spot only hidden in the loveliness of its seclusion, with the old Star Inn by the roadside a relic of bygone days when comforts were plain and ale was plenty".

The Star is where people matter and whether you are staying in one of our comfortable en-suite bedrooms, dining in the oak beam themed areas or just having a drink you will be made to feel welcome by all the staff who will ensure your time with us is enjoyable.

We also serve tea and coffee and cream teas in the summer months.
