About The Marston Inn Marston St Lawrence
Marston Inn licensees Nigel and Carole Davis are looking for people who can bowl a flopper but they will happily take on those who only achieve a beaver too. While a lot of pubs are converting into gastro pubs and turning their back on traditional pub games things are different at the Marston Inn, in Marston St Lawrence, nr Banbury.
Nigel and Carole have installed a skittle alley in the garden of their 600 year old Hook Norton pub. Skittles is a game almost as old as the 15th century pub and flopper is a player who knocks down all nine pins with one ball.
A beaver happens when a player knocks down no pins. Skittles isn’t the only game played in the Marston Inn’s large garden, the pub has a thriving Aunt Sally team, and inside drinkers can play shove halfpenny and many other traditional pub puzzles.
The Marston Inn is a real country pub in a peaceful setting serving great pub food in a relaxed, informal atmosphere. Good food is always the order of the day at the Marston Inn. Quality and value are top of the list which keeps customers coming back for more. Its traditional Sunday Lunch with roast potatoes, honey roasted parsnips, Yorkshire pudding and a selection of fresh vegetables covered in a Hooky Ale gravy is a Sunday meal not to be missed. Pre- Booking is more than advisable. Much of the menu is derived from locally bought vegetables and farm produce.
Nigel and Carole endeavor where possible, to supply the Kitchen from their own vegetables and herb gardens to ensure freshness and quality. There is also a large camping field at the rear of the Marston Inn, an ideal base for events at Silverstone or a camping holiday with historic Banbury and Oxford nearby.
By contrast enjoy the real fire and traditional pub nights throughout the winter. A magical welcome always awaits you as Nigel is one of the most popular close up magicians in the area with his services often being called upon by other venues for themed evenings.
